Sleeping on the Floor
Some of my friends are having a rough go of things right now. Their difficulties stand in harsh counterpoint to my comfortable existence with its petty problems.
Albert Camus wrote in The Fall, "I've heard of a man whose friend had been imprisoned and who slept on the floor of his room every night in order not to enjoy a comfort of which his friend had been deprived." So it is that I am metaphorically sleeping on the floor for my friends. I am thinking about them, wishing them well, and hoping for the best. I only wish I could do more.

I have slept on beds that were clearly less comfortable than the adjacent floor. Perhaps you just need to find one of those and you could apply for federal grant money or something. Find out which one brings you better results, and all that snot.
