Mother's Day
My brother and I took our mother out to Almaden Meadows park for an afternoon of kite flying and relaxation. Since my Mom is still recovering from knee surgery, Eric and I took up the burden of lofting the kite. Unfortunately, there's not very much wind in Almaden. This is exceptionally good for tennis, less so for kite flying.
Eric and I made a number of good runs at it in the stifling heat, but we were unable to keep the kite in the air for very long. There simply wasn't enough consistent wind. We paused at length to rest, talk, and have a catch.
At Eric's suggestion, we gave it one last try. Happily, he ran the kite high up into the swirling winds of the park. Although there were some dicey moments, we sucessfully flew the kite for almost an hour before bringing it in. Full credit to Eric and his superior kite flying skill for making the day a success.
