Stand-up Philosopher
For those of you that enjoyed the earlier post, I now present to you Mel Brooks' definition of a Stand-Up Philosopher. In Brooks' classic History of the World, the central figure Comicus, played by Brooks himself, declares his occupation at the unemployment window in ancient Rome as "stand-up philosopher". When the unemployment clerk, played by Bea Arthur, fails to recognize this job title, Comicus explains "I coalesce the vapor of human experience into a viable and logical comprehension".
I presume you are already familiar with the clerk's infamous response. Nonetheless, I present to you the unemployment office scene.
